• Goodyear has launched a pocket-sized measuring tool to clarify torque settings for wheel fitters.
The Tor-q-rite gauge correlates torque settings with the size of the wheel stud to reveal the optimum clamping force. Goodyear stresses that the wheels, studs and hubs should be in firstclass condition, and should be lubricated with a light oil such as an SAE20.
Tor-q-rite is said to be the First comprehensive guide of its type: it costs £5,95.
Goodyear also wants to eliminate potential confusion by having torque wrenches marked only in newton-metres, and by having a single recommended figure rather than a tolerance range.
