Glass's Guide expert thinks it's all good news for used vehicle sales...
particularly if you've got a crane.
The outlook for the used truck market is promising according to George Alexander, chief editor of commercial vehicles at Glass's Guide (right).
He reports that two-axle rigids are "in high demand" with Daf 45s and Mercedes-Benz Ategos leading the way.To match them in performance on the open market Ivecos and Renaultaucks' Midlum need more power and a longer chassis.
The tipper market continues to prosper, with trade and operators battling it out for those clean vehicles that do appear on the market. Alexander believes this sector is looking good as demand continually outstrips supply. "As a consequence trucks must work harder, for longer, which in turn will place an even greater price premium on clean used examples at a time when manufacturers are struggling to meet demand for new chassis," he says.
Alexander reports that Daf,Volvo and Scania still dominate the multi-axle sector with double-drive axles; any three or four axle rigids with cranes are much sought after.
In the tractor market anything above 400hp is holding its price firmly regardless of age."The market remains firm at all times as dealer sentiment continues to be upbeat with a near-to-ideal mix of used stock to match operators' requirements," he concludes. •
