WEB SITES have become a vitally important tool for independent dealers in their campaign to boost used truck sales, according to Lee Smith of dealer Hanbury Riverside.
"We're finding that people are visiting our site, seeing the truck they want and contacting us to buy it without bothering to come and look at it first," he says.
"Our site is so important to us that we're going to be improving it in various ways over the next few months to make it more userfriendly and attractive," he reports.
"People want something interesting to look at," Smith points out,"especially if they're going on there at 11pm, as often happens, after a hard day's work."
"We've come to rely heavily on our web site," says another independent dealer."With the speed at which vehicles are being sold we're now having to update it two or three times a day.
"In fact we've had to take on somebody full time to look after it and handle our other marketing activities," he adds.
"One of the great benefits it brings is that it pulls in enquiries from all over the world. We've got a potential customer flying over from Malaysia to talk to us on the strength of what he's seen on our site."
