hen it comes to staying power, Dick Bolton from Lincolnshire, together with his 1 962 Triumph Courier van, proved they've got what it takes. They have just successfully completed the 2,000-mile 1998 Reliability and Endurance run organised by Club Triumph. This biennial event has been raising money for charity since 1966; last time round it raised £20,700 for the Alzheimer's Research Trust. The marathon run, this year in aid of Macmillan Cancer Research, took in John O'Groats and Lands End over a period of 48 hours beginning at 7.00pm on Friday 2 October. With his co-driver Dennis Rouse, a vintage tractor collector from Stamford, Dick covered 1,978 miles in 47 hours 56 minutes. An impressive 57 out of 60 Triumphs finished the run and it is estimated that the total raised will be as much as £25,000. Anyone wishing to make a donation can contact Dick on 01777 700145. Oh, and I think a round of applause is called for.
