• Our American friends have finally managed to defy even our flexible belief. Ford's latest offering to the °luxury personal recreation vehicle' and "serious towing hobbyist* markets is the F-650 Super CrewZer.
There's no messing about with car-derived engines for
this one—power is from a 300hp Caterpillar 312613 with 1,166Nm of torque, driving through a six-speed Allison MD3066 and a 6,700kg Mentor aide on Hendrickson air suspension. Fortunately, there are dual 295-litre fuel tanks within the 4,928mm wheelbase. GVW is 10.25 tonnes while those serious towers will no doubt appreciate the 15.2-tonnes GCW.
Naturally, the crew-cab features heated leather seats, with the option of a matching rear sofa in place of the standard bench. You can probably imagine much of the cab spec, but it's topped out by the f hpdown TV screen and Nintendo 64 games system. Ford expects to sell 300 next year.
Two UK pickup buyers will have the chance to buy the
exclusive Ford Harley Davidson F-150 SuperCrew five months before it goes on sale in the US. The black 250hp V8 pickup, with orange and grey pinstripes and a unique leather interior, can be yours for just £33,000 (ex-VAT) from Manchester Harley Davidson dealer, Bauer Milleft.
