MULDOON .FRANSPORT Systems of Dungannon in Northern Ireland is introducing its semi-trailer positive rear-steer system into the building block and concrete mixer sectors.
It is claimed to combine the payload of an attic with the manoeuvrability of an eightwheeler:The patented system uses a self-pressurised hydraulic circuit to operate a pair of rams on the kingpin plate, which then relay to another pair on the rear axle's turntable. Muldoon claims the fast response of its system compared with a conventional rear-steer system enables the first trailer axle to be mounted further forward.
A simpler mechanical version is also available, and Muldoon can supply kits for fitting its systems to other trailer manufacturer's products. • For further information on this technology, visit the company's wehsite:www.muldoon.com
