From AVL of Austria comes a water-cooled strain-gauge transducer suitable for pressure measurements in internal combustion engines.
A special groove diaphragm in the transducer provides a soft-spring characteristic with an overload capacity.
Produced in chrome-nickel steel it can operate within a mean gas temperature up to 1000deg C. The pressure to be measured is integrated over the diaphragm area and the resulting force is transferred to an integral measuring cylinder. The deformation of the cylinder creates an out-of-balance voltage which can be represented on any type of recorder, says the company.
