• Llandudno-based Crosville Wales has taken delivery of the second and third Optare Delta buses to come off the line.
Based at Dolgellau on the Cumbrian coast, they have been bought for the BarmouthChester service which is being run on behalf of Gwynedd County Council.
The two Daf SB220 48seaters are built to dualpurpose finish with 48 coachtype seats and full interior soft trim. Powered by the standard LC1160 engine, the buses have four-speed ZF gearboxes with a fully integrated retarder.
The vehicles can take up to 24 standing passengers and are fitted with large luggage pens inside the entrance. They are in Crosville Wales' new experimental livery of metallic green and silver, together with the Red B*s Gwynedd front that is specified by the county council.
After various failures and financial difficulties, the county council now hopes that a fiveyear contract together with a new buses will stabilise operations on the service.
