• Leyland Bus is booming — year-to-date figures show its market share leaping from just over 20% in 1988 to 31.4% this year. Volvo has built a 30.7% share of the PSVs registered so far this year, a slight drop from 1988, giving the Volvo-Leyland Bus combine a dominating 62.1% market share.
A sharp riser in the PSV charts in Dennis (year-todate sales of 58, up from 37), while the biggest loser is Metro-CammellWeymann. Its March registration plumetted from 72 in 1988 to 33 last month in the wake of parent company Laird's decision to sell MCW.
Van Hoors 2,000
• The 2,000th Van Hool for the UK has been delivered to Applebys of Humberside. The vehicle was handed over to Stuart Appleby, boosting his fleet of Van Hod Alizees to nine. Three more will be delivered later this month.
