• A company whose £7,000
.4 bus was written
off in an accident is suing a lorry driver for alleged negligence.
In a High Court writ issued in London, Eastern National is claiming damages against Canute Haulage of Main Road, Hockley, Essex, following the accident on 22 September 1988. Eastern National, of new Writtle Street, Chelmsford, Essex, claims that its Leyland single-decker bus, driven by employee Peter Chambers, was stationary on the Al2 near Chelmsford at the time of the accident.
The writ alleges that a lorry driven by a Canute Haulage employee was in collision with the rear of the bus, causing extensive damage. The writ states that the lorry driver was negligent.
