The rules, regulations, laws and convention are the same in Ireland as in England or, for that matter, Belgium. How you find out about the laws is a different matter.
The way the UK goes about it makes one read everything; you have to because the subject is so vast. You have to study, read and revise, and it sticks, because events that happen trigger the memory.
If you made it a full written exam, the overall cover would be very narrow and, don't forget, exams are not for examiners to find out what you do know, but what you don't. Keith Furnias, Corsham, Wiltshire.
