Last week Transport Secretary Paul Channon unveiled plans to improve antiterrorist checks at Heathrow, Gatwick, Manchester, and 16 other airports, with the introduction of new computer systems for passes and proposals to search staff and vehicles more thoroughly.
FTA's Injunction II Tomorrow (14 April) at 10.:30arn in the High Court the Freight Transport Association will apply for an injunction to ban the London Boroughs Transport Committee from forcing hauliers to fit air brake silencers.
The FTA's Don McIntyre says the LBTC is insisting hauliers applying for London lorry permits must fit air brake silencers, though a judicial review is planned.
