• Merceron is not the only French tanker manufacturer to have entered the UK market in recent months. Maisonneuve, established 60 years ago, builds tankers for "all liquid applications" and has sold 30 units in this country-40% of its total output of about 400 trailers each year goes for export.
The firm is 'pushing hard" on LPG tankers, says export sales manager Guy Merouze.
It has established a UK sales and service site in Stalbridge, Dorset, and has signed a contract with Calor for LPG tankers which have to operate at a pressure of about 22 bar.
The firm showed one of the Calor trailers at the CV Show, along with a rear-steer milk collection tanker built for rental firm ITS.
