COMPONENT DELIVERIES to Honda's Swindon car factory could be disrupted by a dispute over the sacking of workers.
The Amicus trade union blames the HR policies of Honda's logistics supply company, SDC, for the dispute.
National officer Roger Maddison says: -It offers workers a few thousand up front as a compro mise agreement —and when you've taken that, you've signed away your statutory right to make a claim to an employment tribunal."
The union says it represents about half of Wiltshire-based SDC's 350-strong workforee, which includes about 50 drivers.
It says SDC dismissed 30 workers last August and another 19 are now facing dismissal. Amicus regional officer Jim D'Avila comments: "Because of these draconian actions, every worker lives in fear of the sack. Amicus members are calling for an industrial action ballot in an attempt to get SDC to remove this constant threat of sacking that is hanging over their heads."
SDC declines to comment about the dispute.
