They've opted for the latter because they are familiar with the technology, which allows them to meet Euro-4 without any noticeable impact on the fuel economy of their high-speed common-rail diesels, and because they won't have to ask van drivers to worry about pouring in AdBlue.
A key difference between the approaches taken by different companies, however, lies in whether they will need to fit a particulate trap to meet emissions limits.
It will be a feature on Mercedes-Benz's Sprinter and VW's Crafter at Euro-4, but not on most 'yea) Dailies or LDV's Maxus.
