• The UK's first Scania 8x2 has entered service with Gatwick Plant in Honey. Surrey. The R124G 360's full air suspension includes a lifting tag axle with the ability to fully load the drive axle for 90 seconds. The chassis is equipped with a range of drawbar towing eyes, and is plated at 38 tonnes GCW.
The Webb bodywork converts hydraulically from a 26ft flatbed into a beavertail, and can run either way with a 14tonne payload. An Atlas 390.1 crane is fitted, complete with radio remote control: it can lift 3.1 tonnes at the full 10.4m reach, or 8.0 tonnes at 5m.
The Scania enjoyed a highprofile start to its service life when it was used to collect stricken cars at this year's British Grand Prix.
