• Newcastle United footballer Stu ning goal in a match just days aft art Pearce scored the winwalking away from his car after it was crushed by a council tipper. Nottinghamshire police, who are investigating the accident, say he is "extremely lucky to be alive" after the truck rolled onto his car near his Cropwell Bishop home. Pearce escaped with a minor injury to his hand. Tipper driver Duncan Wilson was treated for minor head injuries. A Rushcliffe council spokeswoman says: "We're co-operating with the police in their inquiry."
