From January 1 1969 new regulations come into effect extending the use of trailers with over-run brakes from the present up to 1 ton unladen (without an attendant) to 31 tons gross weight. The TRTA points out that the new rule does not cover the question of whether an attendant is required for the 1-31 ton class, and the association is pressing the MoT for a dispensation in this respect.
