TWO BUS Ianer, are to be taken out and a third modified by the Greater London Council because the expected advantages have not materialised.
Mr Jim Daly, GLC transport committee chairman, said "Our continuing studies show that bus lanes are doing their job of making bus travel more reliable and speedy, saving passengers time and saving LT money."
London now has 111 bus lanes. The GLC's aim is to double the current implementation rate of two lanes a month.
The two to be withdrawn are in Baker Street, and in Longbridge Road, Barking; the one to be modified is in Evelyn Street, Deptford.
Accident rates have fallen on the majority of roads with bus lanes.
