even after several miles running. The battery always appears fully charged despite this warning. Is any action necessary to correct the continuous warning?
A it is unlikely that the alternator is at fault if the battery is remaining charged. Early-type alternators have a separate warning light unit which may be the cause of the trouble. Later alternators have a built-in diode to control the warning light, and again this may be the cause of the problem. In either case, the alternator drive belt should be checked for slackness and wear.
