CHANNEL ferry operator Townsend. Thoresen is freezing coach rates and group passenger fares on its crossings from Felixstowe, Portsmouth and Southampton for a year.
On sailings from Dover, coach rates will remain at 1977 levels, but group passenger fares will rise by about 10 per cent after March 31.
Coaches carrying more than 30 fare-paying passengers will be transported free, provided the return journey is made within five days and coaches carrying more than 35 adult passengers will be free for trips of up to 48 hours on the Continent.
Coach drivers are allowed to travel free and couriers can also be carried free with groups of more than 15 farepaying adults.
Townsend Thoresen routes are from Felixstowe to Zeebrugge, Dover to Zeebrugge and Calais, and Portsmouth and Southampton to Cherbourg and Le Havre,
