• London Transport busmen are pressing for improvement in working hours. The Transport and General Workers' Union has presented a plan to reduce Sunday shifts to a maximum spell of five hours without a break and Saturday shifts to eight hours with two breaks.
Three-quarters of Monday-Friday duties would be limited to 8 hours 40min. Spread: over duties would be contained within a 12-hour limit and the maximum spell in charge of a bus would be 4ihours on all duties over 7 hours 38min.
