STUDENTS can enrol now for the CM Special Offer course for the Certificate of Professional Competence in Road Haulage (National). The next examinations are in June.
Students should remember that after they have passed the CPC exam, Licensing Authorities will require around nine weeks' notice of an operator's licence application in order to process it.
Therefore don't delay. .
If students are in scope to the Road Transport Industry Training Board the full amount of the course can be claimed back as a training grant.
The payment rates for the CPC National course are as they appear in the application form at the foot of this page.
Examinations are held five times a year — but not at equal intervals.
This CM Special Offer is made in conjunction with Road Transport Correspondence Courses of Chertsey, Surrey. Each student comes under one of two tutors — Eddie Pargeter and Frank Levvspy (Witney 3481). A 'phone call can be made if there are any problems. The course is sent out in sections plus a mock exam which simulates the Royal Society of • Arts actual test. It is recommended that students take the mock exam halfway through their course and return their results to RTCC for marking.
For those not yet employed in transport, remember that gaining a CPC is a good first qualification. Around 90 per cent. of goods in the United Kingdom are moved by road, either by own-account operators or hire or reward hauliers.
The CPC is vital — but a lot of people are failing the RSA exam. In 1979 the exam was taken by 12,865 persons — 5,460 were unsuccessful. Ensure that you don't add to this number: join the CM/RTCC home study course, which could mean staying in business. The CPC puts you one up. The following is a summary of the home study course:

Second section: Mechanical conditions; Structure of law; Company law; Other services; Mock examinations.
Third section: Social legislation; Traffic accident procedure; Insurance; Weights and dimension; Vehicle selection; Safe loading and goods in transit.
