Wilson admitted recklessly endangering the lives of 14 people and the aggravated taking of the forklift truck at York Crown Court after he crashed repeatedly into cars on the A64 during the public holiday. The drama ended only after police patrol cars forced him off the road, by which time the obligatory holiday traffic jam had built up behind him.
