• The first King Trailers rigid beavertail has gone into operation with the Luton-based haulier T&,M Doherty.
The beavertail is based on a Scania 113 chassis cab, stretched by 5.8m to 11.17m by Inter UK Engineering of Bury St Edmunds, which also added a third SAE axle.
King, of Market Harborough, then fitted a plat
form adapted from its trailer range to create the first PB26. The 360hp, 26-tonne rigid has a 14-tonne payload capacity and is fitted with an 8,000b electric winch, Technical director John lngrey says: "It's based on our well-proven trailer techniques and 38 years of experience—it should have a good working life."
Angle changes in the ramp
are minimised LP,/ using a stage beavertail, beavertail, which will be particularly useful when loading plant machinery he adds. T&M Doherty ordered the rigid to bid for light plant work while reducing the cost of running 38-tonne 14m lowloaders.
