ZARGES (UK) has introduced a range of vehicle-access steps and platforms that it says will save industry workers from injury and death from working at height accidents.
The range includes a mobile trailer platform for loading and unloading flatbed lorries, which provides easy access to the back of the trailer. It is available either as a single platform or as a pair which can surround the trailer to provide level access.
The platform (pictured) is completely mobile and features locking castors and stabilisers. There are 45 angled steps at one end of each platform. These allow the user to safely descend from the platform while facing forward.
There is also a modular system for tanker lorries which consists of a two-section pushup ladder with a 150kg capacity.
A pair of platforms costs approximately £14,000.
• In CM 23 October, we tested three systems for complying with the Working at Height regulations: the Schmitz Trailers fall restraint, the Romguard integrated protected access walkway system and the Spanset Capcha overhead fall arrest For back copies, call 01371 851800.
