FREIGHT TRANSPORT will benefit from a £50m order from Townsend Thoresen for three new car ferries.
The first of the vessels, with room from 1,300 passengers and 350 cars or an equivalent of freight vehicles, will be launched next summer. All will be used on the DoverCalais route by the end of 1980.
The ships will all be built at Bremerhaven.
