• Engine coolant becomes progressively more acidic with use and can eventually start to dissolve both engine and cooling stem materials— leaking water pumps, heater cores and radiators may result.
Midlands-based Rozone is now offering a service to operators to have their vehicles' coolant analysed, initially free of charge. Rozone director Bill Waite points out: "Operators are unaware of the damaging effect that heavy metals like lead and phosphates in waste co. .:an t can have on both individuals amid the environment.
"Normal pH testing will not give any indication of the build up of these substances. The only way to tell is to have ci )(dant samples analysed by spectro-photometry."
The most effective way of dealing with such build-ups, according to Rozone, is to have the coolant thoroughly recycled. Its ARS-18/68 system will completely recycle a vehicle's coolant in 30 minutes.
