Market leader SDC offers a variety of aero options that have been developed on its latest ‘Aeroliner’ curtainsider which, taken all together as a complete package, can provide “just shy of 7% [fuel] savings”. The items below can either be fitted from new or retrofitted to an existing trailer: ● front ‘pod’ moulding, priced at £495; ● standard full wrap-around skirts, priced at £2,050; ● side skirts complete with valance/flaps for £2,550; ● galvanised sheeting fitted to the underside of the side-skirts at £360; ● rear roof vortex generator/diffuser for £590.
SDC also offers the US-made ‘Air Tabs’, which fit around the rear aperture of the trailer for around £400 with an estimated 2%-4% annual fuel saving according to the manufacturer (see www.airtab. com), as well as the low-drag ‘Spraydown’ mudflaps for £200 (which require valances).
