FORD of Britain had no hope of matching Japanese productivity, Sir Terence Beckett, chairman and managing director, sadly admitted to trades union representatives.
Perhaps this is why John Heaverson, an inventory control supervisor at Ford's Daventry Parts Centre, has bought a local brewery that makes real ale. He is certain that the current production of up to 1500 36-gallon barrels a year can rapidly be increased.
Ford is obviously in the wrong business.
