SCOTTISH HAULIER RT McEwan has joined pallet network Palletline in a bid to diversify its business. The Arbroath firm will provide services centred on Dundee postcodes, ranging as far north as Aberdeen and south to Northern Fife. General manager Neil McEwan says joining a network for the first time would add something else to the business, which was set up in 1974 and has to date run full and part loads.
RT McEwan, which is licensed to run 30 vehicles and 45 trailers, takes Palletline’s membership to 76. It recently completed a construction project at its premises in In verkeilor, Angus, to create ad ditional capacity for expansion.
Palletline MD Kevin Bucha nan says recruitment of the family-owned firm came as a consequence of an increase in demand within the area.
“Developing the network to ensure we maintain consistent levels of service across the UK is a key objective,” he says.
Last December Palletline revealed revenues had risen 13.2% to £12.6m from £11.1m in 2009, although pre-tax profit dipped slightly to £1.57m from £1.87m a year earlier.
