At 22, Luke Taylor will be the youngest competitor in the 2011 BTRA Championship – which will have already kicked off by the time you read this piece.
Last year TTX Motorsport was formed, after which they completed four races in two loaned trucks. “We wanted to see if the championship suited both us and Luke before making a more permanent commitment,” Taylor remarks. It did, and during the closed season they bought one of the former Czech-based Team Frankie vehicles. The youngster will compete in all seven races, six of which are held in the UK, with one being staged at the Nurburgring in Germany.
One of the things that made TTX warm to the sport was the friendliness of the fellow competitors, especially old hands like Stuart Oliver. “It’s a fantastic series with some great characters. It would be really fantastic if the transport industry got behind all of us in 2011. If you like family-friendly motorsport at close quarters, then a BTRA Championship race would be a great way to spend your weekend,” says Luke.
