• Hauliers are being advised to avoid the border between Serbia and Montenegro after reports of Serbian police stopping vehicles and causing huge delays.
Belgrade-based news agency Beta has been told told by Montenegrin Trade Minister Branko Vujovic that the financial police and the Serbian Ministry of Internal affairs are stopping trucks to verify appropriate documentation for a "number of hours or even for a few days".
Sue Moody, head of international services at the Freight Transport Association, says: "We have not heard about this particular dispute hut generally
Hauliers set to benefit from competition on the short sea routes, it is an area which hauliers still tend to avoid even though the war has finished."
Moody says that she would advise hauliers to stay away from the region if possible. If they do have to travel there she advises them to get in touch with their customers beforehand to find out about possible problems. "Local information is vital here," she says.
