* Dover Harbour Board is expanding its freight services area. The area, due to be completed in August next year, will provide an extra 300 lorry parking spaces.
* The FTA has produced a list of average/peak delays for trucks at borders in Central and Eastern Europe which reveals that hauliers in some cases have to wait over 70 hours. The worst border, according to the FTA, is at Terespol between Poland and Belarus— a 72-hour delay can occur at peak times.
* Stena Line has boosted its freight carrying capacity on the Fishguard-Rosslare service by 50% with the introduction of the Konin gin Beatrix vessel.
* The British Embassy has informed the Road Haulage Association that action by French lorry drivers and Farmers to block roads is still a threat. This action is likely to be localised.
* The International Road Transport Union has produced a booklet listing legal firms in most European countries who are willing to represent foreign hauliers.
* From the beginning of July the price of diesel in the Netherlands went up by 7 cents (2p) a litre. However, all foreign operators with vehicles of 12 tonnes or more should be able to recover 5 cents if they keep receipts for of 100 litres or more.
* In Romania, vehicles over 3.5 tonnes on the PloestiBrasov section of the E60 will be banned until 15 September, from 08:0020:00hrs Monday to Friday due to maintenance work.
