ONE OF THE KEY factors in this year's declining truck sales has been the moratorium on purchases by the major rental companies, with no large orders since the spring.
They have been reluctant to force their clients to deal with digital tachographs and AdBlue. But now the logjam seems to have been broken by the first major rental order since the arrival of Euro-4.
Dawsonrentals has taken the EGR route with an order for 100 4x2 and 6x2 MAN TGA 440s featuring XXLcabs and TipMatic auto boxes. They will be the first MANs to join Dawsonrentals' 8,500-strong fleet. MD Stephen Miller says: "11 new engine technology is real issue, whether people a talking openly about it or nc Its much more important thE the digital tachograph issue.
"We've been picking up lot of resistance to the AdBlu SCR approach, so this initi order is our first response what seems to be a growin customer preference."
