Cranbrook, Kent-based Nicholas Anderson, who has twice had 0-licence applications refused, has failed to regain an impounded skip vehicle. South-Eastern & Metropolitan Traffic Commissioner Christopher Heaps rejected the request for the return of the vehicle impounded at Hythe in October while carrying a loaded skip.
Anderson. who trades as CSC Skip Hire, said that without the vehicle his business would fail. He had made two separate licence applications, both of which failed on financial evidence.
He added that he had another completed application ready to submit, subject to finances being in place. He had been attempting to sell a property in order to release funds to make a successful application. The TC said he had no discretion under the regulations to accept Anderson's explanations.
Licence cut
The fleet of Peterhead-based John and Alistair Davidson, trading as John I Davidson, has been cut from nine vehicles and 12 trailers to eight vehicles and 12 trailers until a vehicle removed from the licence passes its annual test at the first attempt. The firm had been calle before Scottish Traffic Commissioner Joa Aitken at an Aberdeen disciplinary inquir because of poor maintenance. She also ordered the firm to provide evidence that it had a vehicle defect code book.
Company warned
Kirkcaldy-based MTV Removal & Delivers has been given a warning by Scottish Traffic Commissioner Joan Aitken after being called before her at an Edinburgh disciplinary inquiry because of concern over its vehicle maintenance standards.
Taking no action other than issuing the warning. the TC noted the assurances given and the efforts being made by the company to improve the situation.
