• LEP Swift, LEP International's UK distribution arm has invested nearly £1.3 million in 40 rigid curtainsiders (28 Volvo FL617 and 12 AWD TL8-14/1718), all equipped with Lawrence David bodywork.
The vehicles will be used to service Swift's Peugeot parts distribution contract with Gefco and its own freight network.
The 8.64m jig-built bodies give 2.59m-high side access and a Ray Smith 1.5-tonne cantilever tail lift together with a 500mm top flap forms the rear closure.
All of the bodies are assembled using L-David's bolted, zinc-coated steel construction. This comprises a rigidly-mounted roof and rear frame anchored at the rear of the chassis but with flexible, rubber-bonded mountings at the front bulkhead.
Swift also specifies its own design of load lock tracking along the floor to allow for strapping down roll cages in transit.
