Arabian back-up
White Trux International is negotiating to form a consortium in Saudi Arabia to offer a back-up service to British exporters using Middle East road haulage.
The company has offices in Jeddah, Riyad, Damaan and Doha and it says the new service will be designed to smooth out delays that occur on arrival in the Middle East with cargo clearance.
£60,000 removals Giltspur Bullens Transport Services has won a major contract to move all American Express offices in the South of England into a new office in Brighton.
The contract. worth £60,000, will involve the packing and unpacking of departments and the handling of computers and other delicate machinery.
Main cost of the contract is the office removal, worth £45,000 to Giltspur, with stores and archives removals accounting for the remainder of the charges.
Irish move
Seddon Atkinson Vehicles Ltd is to establish service, sales and parts facilities in the Republic of Ireland in the next few weeks.
Frank Boland Ltd, of Cork, has been appointed main distributor in Eire. Facilities, handling heavy and medium commercial vehicles, will be established in both Dublin and Cork.
Toll rise?
Mersey Tunnel tolls, already due to rise in the new year, may have to go up again soon.
Mr Peter Jenkins, Merseyside county treasurer, said the Government had written telling him that the proposed increases would not cover the tunnel losses of about £4m.
