Oil spray nozzles for cooling the piston crowns have been moved from the top of the connecting rod to stationary points on the cylinder block.
Rotating valves have been introduced to eliminate pitting of the seats.
Type designations of the chassis powered by the uprated engine are 141 and 146, the latter having the sturdier chassis and a tandem drive bogie.
The two-axle tractive unit is the LB141, the three-axle 6x2 is the LB141 with the 6x4 version being designated the LBT141.
