Not so 'goodies'

From time to time little goodies drop on my desk like the self-splicing tow rope, the unbreakable mirror, the windscreen cleaning solvent or the lock lubricator.
Now, the rope was a self splicer, but how can you test or recommend a tow rope that is only eighteen inches long. We can't say too much about that.
The unbreakable mirror? Well it didn't break when I dropped it on the office carpet or thumped it on the edge of my desk, but how well it would stand up to weathering or constant vibration in a commercial vehicle mirror bracket is another matter. So again, sorry, no recommendation.
The C-Thru screen wash solvent does work. I have just proved it on a 40-mile return journey along the M4 in atrocious weather conditions, and I had a clear screen all the way. Whether or not it affects the wiper blades I will only know in a few months time.
The Loclube which Wilmot Breeden sent me. in my case, was a total failure. To prove that it would defrost a lock I left my car out in heavy frost on Monday evening. On Tuesday at 6am the vehicle was nicely frost bound. Following the instructions meticulously, I used the Loclube. Nothing happened. I repeated the process. Still nothing happened.
Half an hour later I hitched a lift to the local station, took out a second mortgage on the house to pay the fare and made the return journey that day by rail. Sorry, once again this is one I cannot recommend.
Now all this may stop the "goodies" dropping on my desk, but it's really only worthwhile asking CM to recommend a product if it can be properly and successfully tested.
