WASTE COLLECTION and disposal company Biffa Waste Services has bought two companies and provided a new service to cater for handling waste at sporting and public events.
The two companies bought out are Waste Way Bins of Tonbridge. Kent and Wakefield Containers of Reading, Berkshire.
Biffa plans to integrate the Kent business into its own Tonbridge area network. Existing Waste Way customers will be offered a far wider range of specialist waste handling facilities than previously available. This will include dry, industrial toxic and wet waste services.
A wider range of services is now also offered to customers in Reading.
The sports package is a tailor made service for individual functions, including the supply of 10 to 30 metre skips, and containers to cater for estimated attendance figures.
• Leyland Freighter 16.13s have been bought to carry out a new waste collection service by the West London/Thames Valley based Grundon Group.
The vehicles have 15.4cum (20cuyd) airspace capacity bodies to contain the waste, and the bodies and matching bin-lift gear have been supplied by Powell Duffryn Engineering and David MacKrill Engineering. Chassis feature Allison automatic transmissions.
