Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

FOLLOWING its centre-spine chassis conversion on the Dodge G16 chassis cab, York Truck Equipment has also developed a drop-frame version for operators who need to fit conventional type bodywork which may not be an integral part of the vehicle structure.

A new step-frame Dodge chassis conversion will give a body platform height of approximately 645mm (25,4in) with straight-through loading across the body.

The conversion is done by removing the main chassis longitudinals behind the gearbox and shortening the rear suspension subframe to minimise intrusion into the body load space. The chassis main rails are then replaced to give the required wheelbase and chassis height.

For ultra-low loading heights of 575mm (22.6in), propshaft intrusion can be reduced further by lowering the engine in accordance with Karrier Motors' special vehicle operation recommendations.

By fitting short municipal-type springs the body space is maximised while wheelbase and overall length are minimised, and this is also helped by the repositioning of batteries and fuel tanks. Ground clearance is improved by fitting a frontmounted exhaust and tapering the rear overhang.

Low-profile tyres can reduce the deck height further if required.

With the co-operation of Karrier engineers, York is able to offer both centre-spine and drop-frame chassis conversion with national Type Approval.
