BRITISH dery prices rose by 115 per cent in the five years to last month, according to the International Road Transport Union's (IFIU) latest figures. (The retail price index over this time rose by 139.4 per cent).
In the period, the average price rose from 77p to £1.68 per gallon, which compares with a 126 per cent leap to £1.81 for petrol, and an Irish dery price increase of 416 per cent.
In Belgium, the rise was 154 per cent, in Denmark 202 per cent, in France 134 per cent, in West Germany 48 per cent, in Greece 308 per cent, in Italy 274 per cent, in Luxemburg 170 per cent, and in the Netherlands 87 per cent.
