i SUCCESSOR to the standard ambulance body built by Wadham• Bros., Ltd., Waterlooville, Hants. on the Morris-Commercial CV/11/30 chassis, has recently gone into production. In this new unit, full advantage has been taken of the Morris-Commercial N.V.S. ambulance chassis. The overall dimensions arc: Length, 20 ft.; width, 6ft. 8 ins., and height, 8 ft. 5i ins.
The increase in effective floor area and an extension in headroom of 7 ins. greatly facilitate the work of the attendants., Another important feature is that the body lends itself to immediate conversion to a four-berth unit without unduly sacrificing the comfort of the patients or reducing the ease and speed of loading or unloading. factors which are of prime importance in an ambulance service.
An increase of 6 ins, in the width allows for the stowage of an invalid chair or sitting-case carrier in. the centre gangway, whilst the extra length makes for comfortable accommodation for five sitting passengers and one stretcher case and an attendant.
The general arrangement of the interior follows that of the older-type standard ambulance body, but in this B6 new-type unit there is an extra fulldepth door on the near-side front.
Ventilation and heating are catered for by a forced-induction fresh-air system with which is combined a highcapacity internal heater. A heater and demister are fitted in the driver's compartment.
All upholstery is in leather cloth with Dunlopillo fillings, and the driver's seat is Leveroll-mounted. Many variations of the standard body are available and include full provision for use with tele
communication, for single-, twoor four-berth stretcher accommodation, or as a sitting-case unit for 11 passengers plus an attendant.
The price of the Wadham standard body is £800, and of the sitting-case body with emergency stretcher accommodation, £835.
The company is also responsible for ambulance bodies specially designed for the Morris-Commercial P.V. and, Jtype chassis. These units are for urban and city use.
