• Hundreds of drivers working for the department store and supermarket chain, John Lewis Partnership, are set to receive bonuses of up to 15% of their annual salaries after the group announced record profits. More than E57m is to be divided up between the group's total staff of 35,000—they will each receive the equivalent of eight week's wages. The news of the bonanza comes after the firm announced record profits of £150m for 1995. The drivers, who mainly work on deliveries to and from the group's 23 department stores and 122 Waitrose supermarkets around the country, can look forward to receiving the money next week.
