• A mystery benefactor has offered money to a British owner driver so he can buy back his lorry after being freed from a French prison.
Oldham driver John Harrower (pictured} was cleared of drugs charges in January (CM 1-7 Feb) but is still being asked to pay to get his Volvo F16 back (CM 22-28 Feb).
Now an anonymous benefactor has offered him £5,000 towards the cost of retrieving the lorry. French customs impounded the Volvo nearly two years ago when Harrower was arrested on drug smuggling charges. Since his acquittal, they have continued to hold on to it.
The bene factor is a national newspaper iournalist who has been following Harrower's story.
