• A member of the Royal Family is expected to open the 2300 million second road bridge over the River Severn on 5 June. The crossing has taken four years to build.
• Eurotunnel's Le Shuttle freight service continued to increase market share during February. Figures showed the cross channel operator carried 46,454 trucks in February-1,000 more than in January and more than double February 1995's traffic.
• Parcel and freight carrier, United Carriers, has set up a web site on the internet. It will include details of the company and services and can be accessed on http://www. unitedcarriers.co.uk.
• Registrations of vehicles over 3.5 tonnes fell by 503 to 3,652 in February compared to the same month last year. Year-to-date figures have fallen by 458 to 7,910.
