AUTOSENSE Equipment of Bicester has won a West contract for a portable engine-test computer system. German Valued at nearly £300,000 the contract is for a computer-based trolley mounted system for Mainz Industries Panzerwerke for first line checks on the M-60 tank and other Nato vehicles.
The system is designed to provide manually controlled hot engine tests on six, eight and 12 -cylinder diesel units to decide what maintenance action is required before the engine is removed or serviced.
Up to 33 different engine parameters, ranging from speed, load, torque and various temperatures and pressures, can be checked.
Autosense claims that it takes less than 10 minutes to rig and connect the entire system.
The trolley will be fully airconditioned and comprises a keyboard, printer, floppy disk drive and a processor.
