, based in West Thurrock, has been in business for eighteen months. It runs 10 trucks
Company director Dave Sowerbutt says he will only ever run second-hand trucks, but reckons that ft better to go through a dealer than take a chance and buy as seen'. 'Although modern trucks are a lot more reliable, it pays to have the reassurance of a warranty and dealer support. We've built up a good relationship with our local lveco dealership and they know our needs." As regards paying for the vehicle, Sowerbutt is happy with the tried-and-tested method of hire purchase. 'The problem with leasing as an alternative is that, if you suffer a drop in business at any time, you are left with a hi and a truck that you're not even paying off to own."
When it comes to servicing, Tomlin hires a mechanic for most of its vehicles, although the more modern ones do demand a bit more specialist care, "We have a person who services all our trucks, except for the Eurocargo. With electrons throughout the vehicle, we feel ifs best left to the dealers with that one."
