• Merseyside PTE has set up a tailoring shop on wheels. The mobile fitting room, a converted double-deck Atlantean bus, provides an on-the-spot uniform service for Merseyside's 3,000 platform staff.
The converted bus has been equipped with changing cubicles on the lower deck and uniform stores on the upper deck.
The bus tours MPTE's 10 garages on a fortnightly schedule, calling at each garage for a whole day.
When busmen require uniform replacements they board the bus at their own depot and are fitted out with the necessary garments. Previously, the men had to travel into the city centre.
